Turn your creative ideas into workwear people rely on.
Are you a creative designer with a technical eye and a passion for turning ideas into practical, great-looking products? Do you enjoy taking a design from an initial concept through to a finished garment?
We’re looking for a Workwear Designer with experience in 3D design to join a growing team in Preston. This is an opportunity to bring your ideas to life, working on garments that need to look good, perform well and stand up to the demands of everyday working life.
From trousers and jackets to specialist protective clothing, you’ll have the chance to develop a varied range of products, combining creativity with technical know-how.
WHAT YOU GET
- Hybrid working options available following successful completion of your probationary period
- Life assurance for added peace of mind
- Early finish Fridays - a little more time back at the end of the week
- Staff incentives to recognise and reward your contribution
- A varied design role where you can see your ideas develop into real products
ABOUT YOU
You’re someone who enjoys the creative side of design but understands that a great garment needs to work just as well in practice as it does on screen.
You’ll ideally bring:
- Experience designing garments within workwear, uniforms, outdoor clothing or performance apparel
- Hands-on experience using 3D design software, including Style 3D
- Strong knowledge of garment construction and manufacturing processes
- Experience producing technical packs, CAD drawings and production specifications
- Confidence using Adobe Illustrator and other relevant design tools
- An eye for detail, a practical approach to problem-solving and an understanding of commercial requirements
- Good communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with customers and colleagues
A qualification in Fashion Design, Clothing Technology, Textile Design or a related discipline is also required.
Experience with PPE or protective clothing standards would be a bonus, but the key is your ability to combine creative thinking with technical garment knowledge.
ABOUT THE ROLE
No two projects will be quite the same. You’ll take customer briefs and turn them into well-considered garment designs that balance appearance, comfort, durability, performance and cost.
Your day-to-day will include:
- Designing and developing a range of workwear, from trousers and jackets to polos, softshells, knitwear and specialist PPE garments
- Using 3D design tools to bring concepts to life and support the product development process
- Creating technical packs, CAD drawings, garment specifications and construction details ready for production
- Researching trends, new fabrics, innovative materials and more sustainable design options
- Working closely with customers, the sales team and garment technologists to develop products that meet real-world needs
- Preparing concepts, mood boards and product proposals to help bring ideas to life
- Selecting suitable fabrics, trims and accessories, considering quality, performance, comfort and cost
- Managing several projects at once and keeping development work on track
- Ensuring designs meet relevant quality, safety and compliance requirements
You’ll be joining a role where creativity meets practicality. It’s about more than producing an attractive design – it’s about creating garments that are fit for purpose, commercially viable and ready to be made.
