The staff and Governing Board are seeking toappoint an experienced and highly motivated SENCO with vision and ambition toinspire and lead on the continuing development of the SEND policy and provisionacross school. The school works with children with moderate and complex needs,providing excellent support to meet their individual needs. You will workalongside experienced staff to create an inclusive learning environment wheresupport is tailored to each child.

BowleePark Community Primary School is a 4FE school with over 900 pupils. Our schoolwas inspected by OFSTED in November 2023 and we maintained our ‘Outstanding’grading in all areas.

Successfulcandidates will join a very supportive team and be provided with high quality induction,CPD and support.

You will:

  • Determinethe strategic development and implementation of the Special Educational Needs(SEN) policy and provision in school
  • Beresponsiblefor the day to day operation of the SEN policy andcoordination of specific provision to support individual students with SEN or adisability
  • Havecompleted/be willing to complete National Award for Special Educational NeedsCoordinators, or from September 2024, the NPQ for SENCOs within three years ofappointment to post
  • Ensurethat the school carries out its statutory responsibilities regarding allstudents with SEN or a disability
  • Beresponsible for the effective assessment of pupils with SEN, planning highquality provision, supporting staff to understand, resource and deliverprovision and reviewing progress.
  • Compileand submit requests for education and health care needs assessments and fundingfor pupils
  • Prepareannual review schedules for pupils with EHCP’s, all related paperwork and leadannual review meetings
  • Supportthe induction and training of teachers and Teaching Assistants to deliver highquality provision for pupils with SEND
  • Providesupport to parents/carers of pupils with SEND, arrange meetings to discuss SENDsupport and referrals
  • Beresponsible for effective transition through working closely with feedersettings to gathering transition and SEND information for EYFS staff andsupporting transition for pupils with SEND to high school
  • Bean excellent and inspirational teacher with high expectations of learning andbehaviour
  • Demonstratea clear understanding of what constitutes high quality teaching and learningfor all pupils
  • Haveexcellent interpersonal skills and the commitment to work as part of a team
  • Modelthe vision and values of the school.
  • Recognise,promote, and celebrate diversity.
  • Liaise with the Local AuthoritySEND team and a range of external agencies - work with key staff from thesupport services and implement strategies recommended

Theability to converse at ease with customers and service users and provide advicein accurate spoken English is an essential requirement of this post.
