Bowland Ecology is an ecological consultancy seeking to appoint an Ecologist with either peatland project experience and/or BNG project experience. The role will be based at our central Glasgow offices with the option to work from home. The successful candidate must have the flexibility to travel throughout Scotland as required. We pride ourselves on offering robust ecological advice based on best practice and continual learning and development while ensuring staff wellbeing underpins all that we do.

Responsibilities:

  • Project management (including input to tenders/fee proposals and client liaison)
  • Plan, coordinate and undertake BNG, habitat and/or peat and peat-related projects including the production of ecology reports, desk studies and plans, and data input, management and analysis
  • Design and implementation of mitigation schemes
  • Supervision of junior staff
  • Contribution to development of the business

Qualifications:

  • Relevant degree level qualification
  • Membership of CIEEM or equivalent
  • Technical expertise in ecology including habitat surveying, ideally a minimum Level 4 FISCA
  • Good working knowledge of the Scottish regulatory framework for wildlife
  • Excellent communication, team working, project and time management skills
  • Hands-on approach, initiative and self-motivation
  • Ability to work without direct supervision
  • Ability to write clear and concise reports
  • Current and full driving licence
  • Enthusiasm, confidence and a passion for Ecology
  • Experience of working within an Ecological Consultancy
