About Bowland Ecology: Bowland Ecology is a well-established and thriving ecological consultancy that won CIEEM's 2025 medium sized practice of the year award. Due to our continued growth, we are seeking to appoint an Ecologist with either peatland project experience and/or BNG project experience. The role will be based at our modern offices in central Glasgow with the option to also work from home. The successful candidate must have the flexibility to travel throughout Scotland as required. We pride ourselves on offering solutions and robust ecological advice based upon best practice and continual learning and development while ensuring that staff wellbeing underpins all that we do.

- The chance to work on a wide variety of interesting and challenging projects including large scale infrastructure, brownfield sites, minerals projects and work commissioned by Government Agencies including projects that have won industry awards

Scope of role:
- Project management (including input to tenders/fee proposals and client liaison)
- Plan, coordinate and undertake BNG, habitat and/or peat and peat related projects including the production of ecology reports, desk studies and plans, and data input, management and analysis
- Design and implementation of mitigation schemes
- Supervision of junior staff
- Contribution to development of the business
Successful Candidates will have:
- Membership of CIEEM or equivalent
- Technical expertise in ecology including habitat surveying, ideally a minimum Level 4 FISC
- A good working knowledge of the Scottish regulatory framework for wildlife
- Excellent communication, team working project and time management skills
- 'Hands on' approach, initiative and self-motivation
- Ability to work without direct supervision
- Ability to write clear and concise reports
- Current and full driving licence
- Enthusiasm, confidence and a passion for Ecology
- Experience of working within an Ecological Consultancy
