We are searching for a number of Chartered Fire Engineers, Senior Fire Engineers, Fire Engineers, Fire Consultants and Fire Safety Surveyors for our client a leading building consultancy with offices located across England and Scotland.
Our client is a Chartered Practice with the RIBA, RICS, CIBSE, BSRIA, RTPI, CIAT as well as the Association for Project Safety.
They are recognised as industry leaders in Fire Safety Consultancy and have been appointed by the Department for Levelling Up, Housing and Communities (DLUHC) as an Approved Consultant to the panel of Fire Risk Appraisal of External Walls (FRAEW) Assessors. They have also been awarded the FRAEW Hardship Framework by Homes England (a National appointment).
The Practice has been providing Fire Engineering services for a number of years, and they are developing their fire engineering expertise around their multidisciplinary building and construction offerings.
Successful candidates will be required to work well in a team environment – some travel will be expected within your region to fulfil the requirements of the role and the diverse range of work.
These roles are being offered on a remote basis but you do need to live in London or within a commutable distance of London as this is where the majority of your client work is going to be based.
The Role
Our clients current fire engineering commissions include fire engineering reports on design projects for their architectural and building services teams – you will also be working and supporting a strong building surveying team undertaking EWS1/FRAEW surveys.
Professional Qualifications/Skills
- An undergraduate degree in Fire Engineering or a suitable equivalent undergraduate or postgraduate qualification is required.
- Strong knowledge of UK legislation, standards and regulations, for example, BS9999, RRFSO, PAS79, PAS7, BS7974 and Building Regulations as well as knowledge of other regulatory regimes.
- Experience of undertaking EWS1 survey reports / FRAEW\’s.
- Understanding of the DLUHC guidelines regarding external wall systems along with the Building Regulations or the ability to learn this very quickly.
- Experience of undertaking fire risk assessments across a variety of property types ranging from education, residential, healthcare, industrial and commercial;
- Experience of fire integrity / compartmentation surveys to identify breaches, proposed remedial repairs through to preparation of specification and design.
- Fire Engineers will need to hold a BEng in an Engineering discipline and have a minimum of 3 years\’ experience working in Fire Engineering.
- Fire Consultants require at least a level 3 regulated qualification (FRA, Passive, Fire Door) and if you have been involved in facade work some form of course or qualification such as the RICS (ABBE) level 6 facade assessment. Ideally you will have at least 3 years\’ experience or similar commercial knowledge.

- Ability to successfully lead on and manage complex projects in a proactive and diligent manner.
- Strong track record in management of projects from inception to completion.
- Client facing, ensuring exacting standards of technical delivery.
- Able to build long-term relationships.
- Excellent administration skills and effective use of the English language.
- Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office / Google software.
- Hold a full, clean UK driving licence and have your own vehicle.
