An independent Newport based Accountancy Practice are looking to add an additional Payroll Officer to their Payroll department. You will be working in an established Payroll team, where hybrid working is available after you have passed the probationary period.

The Payroll Officer will be joining a relaxed and professional team where you will benefit from flexible working, good transport links and free on-site parking.

The successful candidate will have previous experience in processing payrolls of varied in size and complexity. Technical payroll knowledge is essential and Tax, NI, RTI, SMP, SSP, SAP and Auto Enrolment will be a minimum knowledge requirement. The ability to use Bright pay payroll software is highly desirable.

There is the opportunity to work towards your professional CIPP payroll qualifications.

It would be advantageous if you have gained Accountancy practice payroll experience.

Payroll Officer duties and responsibilities:

Working in a busy payroll department, you will be required to assist with and/or carry out the following:

  • Processing payroll of varying frequencies (weekly, monthly, fortnightly, etc.), including the collation of timesheets etc.
  • All aspects of administration including starters and leavers.
  • Ensuring all necessary payments are made within the deadlines set, for example pension contributions and BACS salary payments.
  • Liaising with HMRC and other relevant third parties.
  • Answering queries from clients regarding tax, NI, employee benefits etc.
  • Process and submit Contractor Industry Scheme returns.
  • Processing year end payroll procedures.
  • Ensuring payroll knowledge is up to date and in line with HMRC, with procedures updated accordingly.
  • RTI and auto enrolment experience

Hybrid working is available once you have passed your probationary period (Working from home up to two days per week).

25 days annual leave, plus your birthday plus bank holidays.

Full time hours are 35 hours per week (Monday-Friday).
