A growing and ambitious Accountancy Practice based in Cardiff is seeking an experienced and driven individual to join the firm as an Equity Partner. This is a rare and exciting opportunity to take a meaningful stake in a thriving practice with an established and loyal client base. The incoming Equity Partner will play a central role in shaping the strategic direction of the firm, driving growth, and continuing to deliver the high-quality, client-focused service for which the practice is renowned. This is an ideal opportunity for a Senior Manager or existing Partner seeking greater autonomy, ownership, and the reward that comes with building something significant.

The Opportunity

  • Acquire an equity stake in an established and profitable Cardiff-based accountancy practice.
  • Work closely with the existing leadership team to set and deliver the firm's strategic vision.
  • Manage and grow a portfolio of SME and owner-managed business clients across a range of sectors.
  • Lead service line development, identifying opportunities to expand the firm's advisory and compliance offering.
  • Drive new business development and build on the firm's strong local reputation.
  • Mentor and inspire a talented team, fostering a culture of excellence, development, and collaboration.
  • Play a key role in succession planning and the long-term development of the partnership.

Duties and Responsibilities of the Equity Partner

  • Overseeing the delivery of accounts, tax compliance, and advisory services to a broad client portfolio.
  • Leading client relationships at the highest level, acting as a trusted adviser to business owners and directors.
  • Reviewing and signing off complex accounts, tax computations, and advisory reports.
  • Identifying and converting new business opportunities, including referrals, networking, and cross-selling.
  • Contributing to the firm's financial performance, including billing, WIP management, and profitability targets.
  • Championing the adoption of cloud accounting technology and modern working practices.
  • Representing the firm externally at networking events and within the local business community.

Requirements

  • ACA or ACCA qualified, with substantial post-qualification experience within an accountancy practice.
  • Proven track record at Senior Manager, Director, or Partner level within a practice environment.
  • Strong technical knowledge across accounts preparation, corporation tax, and personal tax.
  • Demonstrable experience managing and growing a client portfolio.
  • Commercial acumen and an entrepreneurial mindset, with the ability to drive revenue and identify opportunities.
  • Excellent leadership and people management skills, with experience of developing teams.
  • Exceptional communication and relationship-building skills, with a confident, client-focused approach.
  • Experience with cloud-based accounting platforms (Xero, QuickBooks or similar).
  • A genuine commitment to the long-term growth and success of the firm.
