An established and successful business near Cardiff are recruiting for a Category Manager on a permanent basis. The company is driven to create innovative products that are high performing, environmentally sustainable and economically attractive. The customers are from a range of industries and this role will manage a specific product portfolio to enhance profitability, product relevance and market share.

Category Manager job description:

  • Work across the full product lifecycle from optimising the current range and improving margins, to supporting new product development and driving product performance.
  • Category Strategy: Own and develop a category roadmap that drives profitability, product performance, market share and customer relevance.
  • Product Portfolio Management: Optimise existing product mix, streamline the range, and identify gaps and opportunities aligned to customer needs and sector demands.
  • Pricing & Margin: Monitor product performance and implement initiatives to improve product margins and overall profitability.
  • New Product Development: Contribute to the development and launch of new products, working closely with technical, marketing, sales, and customer service.
  • Performance Monitoring: Analyse sales and margin data to track performance and identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with sales, marketing, operations, and technical teams to ensure successful execution of category plans.

Category Manager person specification:

  • Demonstrable experience in Category Management, Product Marketing or relevant commercial roles.
  • Strong commercial acumen with a track record of improving margins and growing category performance.
  • Strong understanding of product lifecycle, pricing, and promotion planning.
  • Data-driven mindset with the ability to interpret performance and turn insights into actions.
  • Collaborative approach comfortable working across departments to deliver results.
  • Highly organised, proactive, and commercially curious.

An opportunity for a suitably experienced candidate to join an innovative business. Applicants will be comfortable working in a technical, product-led business. This role has duties and contact across Marketing, Technical, Customer Service and Business Development teams.
