A well established and growing independent Accountancy practice in Bridgend are recruiting for an Accountant, with VAT at the heart of the role.
The practice is in an exciting new phase of growth and prides itself on combining professionalism with a personal touch, offering bespoke, high quality advice to a varied client base.
The Accountant will benefit from a friendly and supportive team environment, hybrid working and free on site parking.
Approximately two thirds of the role will focus on overseeing the VAT function, working alongside a junior member of the team (without direct line management responsibility) to ensure VAT returns are prepared accurately, submitted on time and handled in accordance with Making Tax Digital requirements.
The remainder of the role centres on the preparation of year end accounts and other core compliance work.
As the practice grows the role has genuine scope to develop, so this would suit an adaptable Accountant who enjoys variety and is keen to contribute ideas on improving processes and ways of working.
To be considered for this opportunity you do need to have gained previous accountancy practice experience, including solid hands on VAT experience.
ICAEW or ACCA qualified candidates are desirable, although part qualified candidates or those qualified by experience with the relevant background will also be considered.
Accountant duties and responsibilities; Prepare year end accounts for sole traders and limited companies from both complete and incomplete records.
Prepare corporation tax computations and returns, ensuring accuracy and timely submission Prepare self assessment tax returns and supporting schedules.
Maintain accurate bookkeeping records and reconciliations where required.
Work efficiently across a variety of software including Xero, Quick Books and Sage, adapting to different client systems.
Person Specification Previous accountancy practice experience with strong hands on VAT knowledge.
Proficient with cloud accounting software such as Xero, Quick Books and Sage.
Confident with Microsoft Office, especially Excel, Word and Teams.
