The Client
Our client is a privately owned construction and engineering company, delivering single-source construction and engineering solutions to the UK’s public and private sectors, with a specialization in healthcare. They are looking for a Design Manager with healthcare construction experience to join the team.
The Role of Design Manager
The Design Manager is responsible for the project’s design from concept through to site. This head office-based role, reporting to the Senior Design Manager, shall have the responsibility for the coordination of design activities on a project or multiple projects. Responsibilities include:
- Manage both in-house and external design team members and contribute to planning and coordination in a way that adds value to the processes.
- Establish a platform for good communication and collaboration between relevant parties to ensure an effective flow of design and production information.
- Establish and subsequently de-risk design problems by finding solutions before they materialize.
- Effectively manage and control costs during the process to ensure budgets are met.
- Prepare, manage, and secure all-party ownership of an integrated design programme.
- Develop an understanding of BIM to ensure our client stays at the forefront of legislative requirements.
- Complete the design responsibilities matrix and design deliverables schedule.
- Analyse tender documents received to understand the Client’s requirements on the scheme and liaise with the supply chain to obtain project costs primarily regarding construction aspects.
- Analyse and check project costs prior to tender submission.
