The role of Product Specialist is an office-based position supporting the Commercial & Sales teams to win new business. In this role, you will provide product and pricing information to the Commercial Team and our clients' customers. As a Product Specialist, you will enjoy researching products, reviewing specifications and pricing, and recommending product selections.
Key Responsibilities:
- Identifying relevant suppliers, reviewing specifications, recommending products and suggesting alternatives, helping to maximise profitability whilst meeting customer expectations.
- Preparing product and pricing information for quotations and bids.
- Compiling technical documentation - MSDS, Technical Data Sheets, Certificates and similar.
- Responding to customer technical queries and seeing issues through to resolution.
- Liaising with suppliers to obtain information, sharing relevant data and filing accordingly.
- Supporting contract mobilisation - ensuring all products are set up correctly in our ERP system with accurate specifications, pricing and technical data.
- Reviewing, testing and organising samples to ensure quality and technical standards are met.
- Organising and evaluating samples to confirm they meet quality and technical standards.
- Keeping a close eye on competitor ranges, pricing and promotional activity.
Essentials:
- You must be able to source products accurately to detailed specifications, clarify product issues from customers and with suppliers, and have the ability to compare product specifications from a range of suppliers and identify best options to obtain good pricing.
- Experience in a product, technical or industrial environment - this is a genuine advantage.
- Confident dealing with customers and suppliers; you will be structured and organised.
- A degree or equivalent qualification.
- Strong attention to detail and a structured, organised approach.
- Confidence dealing with both customers and suppliers.
- Intermediate Excel skills.
- An assertive, proactive mindset - someone who takes ownership and follows through.
