Overview
We are seeking an experienced Construction Carpenter to undertake heavy first-fix carpentry work on a new build residential development. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in structural carpentry, excellent attention to detail, and the ability to work safely and efficiently within a fast-paced construction environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out first-fix carpentry including:
- Structural studwork and partition walls
- Joists, trussed roofs, and structural timber installation
- Staircase fitting, framing, and associated structural components
- Window and door frame installation
- Sub-flooring, decking, and sheathing
- Interpret technical drawings, plans, and specifications accurately.
- Work alongside site management and other trades to ensure smooth workflow and timely project progression.
- Use power tools and carpentry equipment safely and competently in line with site protocols.
- Maintain high standards of workmanship while meeting project deadlines.
- Adhere to all health & safety regulations and promote a safe working environment.
- Assist in resolving on-site technical or structural challenges as needed.
Requirements
- Proven experience as a First-Fix Carpenter on residential new build projects.
- Strong understanding of structural timber work and construction sequencing.
- Competence in using a wide range of carpentry tools and equipment.
- Ability to read and follow architectural and engineering drawings.
- Own tools and PPE.
- Strong work ethic, reliability, and ability to work independently or as part of a team.
Preferred Qualifications
- NVQ Level 2 or 3 in Carpentry & Joinery (or equivalent).
- Experience working on high end housing developments (preffered)
