A leading and well-established plant and tool hire business is seeking an experienced Service Technician to join its growing team. This is an excellent opportunity for a mechanically minded individual with experience maintaining, servicing, and repairing plant, tool hire, or construction equipment. Working within a busy depot environment, you'll play a key role in ensuring equipment is maintained to the highest safety and operational standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Carry out routine servicing, maintenance, and inspections on a wide range of hire equipment.
  • Diagnose faults and complete repairs efficiently and effectively.
  • Prepare equipment for hire, ensuring all items meet safety and compliance standards.
  • Maintain accurate service records and documentation.
  • Support the smooth running of depot operations.
  • Assist with loading and unloading equipment when required.
  • Maintain a clean, organised, and safe working environment.
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues to minimise equipment downtime.

Requirements

  • Previous experience as a Service Technician, Plant Fitter, Workshop Engineer, Tool Fitter, or similar.
  • Strong mechanical and/or electrical fault-finding skills.
  • Experience working on plant, tool hire, construction, agricultural, or related equipment.
  • Ability to diagnose and repair faults independently.
  • Full UK Driving Licence.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to health and safety.
  • Good communication and teamwork skills.

Desirable

  • Previous experience within the plant or tool hire industry.
  • Relevant qualifications such as NVQ, City & Guilds, or equivalent in Plant Maintenance, Mechanical Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • IPAF, PASMA, or other industry-recognised certifications.
