We are seeking an experienced and driven Senior Project Manager / Operations Manager to join a team in Cardiff, taking a pivotal role in the delivery and oversight of construction projects across South Wales and surrounding areas. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in main contracting and a proven track record of successfully delivering complex construction projects on time and within budget. This is an excellent opportunity for a strategic and hands-on leader to help shape operational delivery, maintain client satisfaction, and ensure the highest standards of safety and quality across all projects.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee end-to-end project management across multiple construction sites
- Lead project teams and subcontractors to ensure delivery against programme, budget, and quality expectations
- Manage procurement schedules, construction programmes, and resource allocation
- Maintain close communication with clients, consultants, and stakeholders throughout the project lifecycle
- Drive operational efficiency and uphold health & safety and compliance standards
- Support business development and tender processes as required
- Contribute to long-term operational planning and organisational strategy
Requirements
- Proven experience with a main contractor in a Senior Project Manager or Operations-level role
- Excellent leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills
- Ability to manage multiple projects concurrently
- Solid understanding of commercial and contractual project aspects
- Strong problem-solving skills and a results-driven attitude
- Cladding remediation experience is a significant advantage
- Relevant construction qualifications (e.g., HNC, Degree, or equivalent)
- SMSTS, CSCS (Black card), First Aid certification (preferred)
Desirable
- Experience working with local authorities, housing associations, or on high-rise residential schemes
- Familiarity with current building regulations and cladding safety legislation
- Membership of a professional body such as CIOB or RICS
