We are recruiting for an experienced construction Logistics Manager for a major public sector project in Gloucester as part of our DEOP framework of projects. The Senior Logistics Manager will be working on a live facility where multiple assets will be constructed simultaneously and be responsible for planning, coordinating, controlling and overseeing the movement of materials, equipment, people, and site facilities to ensure projects run safely, efficiently, and on schedule whilst successfully co-existing with a live facility and its users and surrounding neighbours in this secure environment.

This role will be within the Bovis project team, reporting to the Construction Director and will be directly responsible for managing the Logistics Contractor employed for this project. As Logistics Manager, you will oversee all aspects of site logistics, including supply chain coordination, traffic and access management, materials handling, waste management, and site facilities. The role ensures the safe and efficient movement of labour, plant, equipment, and materials across construction sites, supporting programme delivery and compliance with safety and environmental standards whilst also meeting Bovis high standards.

Key Responsibilities
  • Site Logistics Management and Planning
    • Develop and implement and maintain logistics plans for all construction phases.
    • Plan site setup, including hoarding, gates, accommodation, cranes, hoists, and temporary services, pedestrian and vehicle routes.
    • Create Construction Logistics Plans (CLP) and Traffic Management Plans for local authority approval and maintaining Bovis standards.
    • Manage the performance of the Logistics Contractor including monitoring metrics and holding weekly meetings effectively.
  • Material & Inventory Management
    • Oversee coordination of delivery, unloading, storage, and distribution of materials.
    • Help maintain accurate delivery records and integrate with procurement teams.
  • Traffic & Access Control
    • Oversee vehicle access, delivery booking systems, and pedestrian routes.
    • Oversee traffic marshalling and ensure safe vehicle movements in constrained environments.
  • Health, Safety & Environmental Compliance
    • Ensure all logistics activities comply with H&S regulations and the Bovis standards / site and facility rules.
    • Conduct inspections, audits, and safety briefings as required including regular monitoring of the Logistics Contractors deliverables.
    • Manage waste, recycling, and environmental compliance and reporting related to Logistics activities.
  • Team Leadership & Stakeholder Coordination
    • Lead logistics teams, subcontractors, and labourers.
    • Liaise with Bovis team, client representatives, suppliers, local authorities, and community stakeholders.
    • Manage and/or related site meetings and provide logistics reporting.
    • Be a key part of the team in delivering excellence in Considerate Constructors Scheme.
  • Site Facilities & Security Management
    • Manage installation and upkeep of site accommodation and welfare facilities.
    • Maintain site security alongside the project security team to maintain security protocols for this secure project.
Required Skills & Experience
  • Core Competencies
    • Strong organisational and planning skills (ideally with competent IT skills).
    • Excellent communication and stakeholder management.
    • Analytical and problem-solving ability.
    • Leadership and people management within a large delivery team.
    • Knowledge of construction processes, safety regulations, and supply chain operations.
    • Have an understanding of cost control.
  • Experience
    • Experience on major construction projects within live facility.
    • Working with a Tier 1 Contractor to first class operational standards.
  • Qualifications
    • SMSTS / SSSTS.
    • First Aid at Work.
