Bovis is recruiting for a Senior Health, Safety & Quality Manager to lead development and maintenance of the business Quality Management System (QMS) and ensure Health & Safety remains a high priority across the organisation. The role works with the EMT and is a member of the Ops Team driving compliance and awareness of EHS and Quality workstreams.
Responsibilities
- Deliver multiple workstreams within the Consulting business to support operations and growth while maintaining knowledge of the wider Bovis safety standard and statutory requirements and the Bovis OHS&E Management Systems.
- Maintain a strong working knowledge of Safety Management systems; provide guidance to project teams in compliance with Bovis Safety processes and procedures for H&S.
- Set up and manage regular SHELT meetings; lead lessons learnt and best practice sharing related to the QMS; lead the Consulting EHS reporting process (SIMPEL); provide monthly EHS statistics to EMT and Ops Team for Consulting.
- Ensure ISO Certifications are maintained; liaise with certification bodies; drive the management review process for ISO 9001; close out Major/Minor NCRs and areas for improvement; ensure staff are aware of QMS requirements.
- Support future standards certification; own internal audit programme; track NCRs and areas for improvement; raise to senior management any failures to close out.
- Carry out site visits, inspections and audits; support Ops Team in CDM duties; ensure highest Health, Safety & Environmental standards on all projects.
- Assist project teams in producing and maintaining mandatory project documentation (CDM documents, RAMS, TBTs, SSOW, etc.); provide CDM Client Advisor, Principal Designer, and Principal Designer Advisor services as needed; manage EHS team delivering CDM services.
- Maintain Bovis Consultingโs accreditation with the Association for Project Safety (SiPP) corporate membership.
Experience & Qualifications
- Delivered diverse and complex projects as a Principal Designer under CDM 2015 across sectors.
- Experience on both small-scale and large-scale projects; direct client engagement to support CDM duties; provide CDM training to duty holders and employees.
- Extensive knowledge of CDM 2015 Regulations and Duty Holder requirements; strong working knowledge of Health & Safety legislation and mandatory requirements.
- Holds a recognised H&S qualification in Construction (e.g., NEBOSH Construction Certificate, NVQ Level 4) and maintains CPD; membership of IOSH, IIRSM, APS, or similar; working towards Chartered status.
Other Achievements and Qualifications
- NEBOSH Construction Certificate; NVQ Level 4/5 in Occupational Health/Construction/Risk Management; professional body membership (e.g., IOSH, working towards Chartership).
- Chartered status or progression towards Chartered; CPD log maintenance; APS certification or equivalent; PD training from APS or others (e.g., RIBA).
- ISO 9001:2015 Foundation or related awareness; additional accreditations such as CSCS, NEBOSH, SMSTS, PTS.
- BSi Diploma in Quality Management or equivalent CQI/IRCA course.
