What we are recruiting for:
We are currently recruiting for a Commercial Manager (Quantity Surveyor) to join the team delivering a new MoD project located in Gloucestershire region. The Commercial Manager is primarily required to lead the procurement and commercial management of work packages of significant scope, complexity and value for the project. This will include the commercial analysis of subcontracts and working closely with the project manager(s) to ensure compliant, co-ordinated and commercially appropriate proposals and outputs in terms of design and cost, as well as undertaking all appropriate levels of internal and external project reporting.
- Ensure initial cost plans are sufficient to carry out the works to be undertaken
- Develop procurement plans and procure the works in accordance with the cost plan and design information available. Performing tender analysis to ensure value for money is achieved and that the works have been procured at the best market rates.
- Prepare contract documentation and negotiate contract terms to limit risk to the company.
- Ensure that the company\’s commercial procedures and processes are adhered to.
- Ensures that project programming and planning are appropriate to the commercial success of the project.
Experience & background:
- Quantity surveying degree or experience within the role.
- NEC contract experience and understanding / experience of target cost contracts.
- Experience working with public sector clients.
- Experience of working for a principal contractor on either new build or refurbishment projects.
- Demonstrate excellent planning and organisational skills.
- Experience with tendering subcontract works.
- Able to prepare subcontract documentation ready for engrossment by external parties.
