We are currently recruiting for a Quantity Surveyor (Commercial Manager) to join our private sector construction business on on a major project in the Northern home counties. You will be working on the commercial Procurement and Post Contract Management of works packages, whilst in the pre con phase of the project. Key responsibilities: As Commercial Manager, you will lead and manage the commercial activities for the project. You will be running a project or a complex section of a large project. Procurement of the project in accordance with approved strategy, ensuring that orders are fully scoped, bought at best value and are correctly contracted in accordance with limits of authority. Liaising and communicating with the Client team in accordance with the contract. Managing supply chain relationships to ensure a consistent and coordinated approach to procurement. Robust implementation and management of commercial, legal, insurance and risk controls of the Project (including but not limited to OLi and PMTR/PID’s). Accurate commercial reporting and contract administration. This includes (but is not limited to) interim payments, management of change accounts, cashflows, final accounting and contract administration. You will ensure that the project is delivered in a safe, timely, efficient and sustainable manner, whilst achieving project targets, meeting client expectations and enhancing the reputation of the business. Essential Credentials: Maintain CSCS card for the role Professional Construction Qualifications relevant to the role or qualified by appropriate level of experience (as noted below) Desirable Credentials: Degree in Quantity Surveying or other construction related degree Have a related Chartership such as MRICS Skills, Knowledge, Experience, Behaviours Essential Skills Written and verbal communication to influence and build relationships Ability to influence and lead teams Demonstrates skills in the avoidance and defence of claims Tendering subcontract works packages of medium to high value Able to prepare subcontract documentation ready for engrossment by external parties Advanced word-processing, Excel spreadsheet packages and cost management software Ability to read drawings and construction design information Valuing interim applications Measurement and valuation techniques Management of claims including assessment of entitlement for prolongation, loss and Expense including inflation Essential Knowledge Knowledge of current construction laws, legislations, and regulations, standards and procedures Commercial and financial understanding in the above context – ability to contribute to value engineering as part of the design process Understand and apply commercial
