We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Senior Planner / Planning Lead to join the London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE) Bankside redevelopment project in Central London. The project will deliver a landmark redevelopment of the existing Bankside House student accommodation into one of the largest purpose‑built student accommodation developments in London, comprising approximately 1,945 student rooms across multiple high‑rise buildings with associated podium, public realm, amenity, and support facilities. Located adjacent to Tate Modern in the heart of Bankside, the scheme represents a technically complex, large‑scale urban redevelopment with significant logistical, design coordination, stakeholder management, and programme integration challenges throughout both preconstruction and delivery phases.

In the role you will initially operate within the project’s preconstruction environment for approximately 12 months, focusing on development of the integrated delivery programme and construction strategy. Following commencement on site, the role will transition into a project‑based lead planning position supporting live delivery and programme management activities. This is a unique opportunity to become part of a flagship London development and play a key role in shaping and delivering a landmark project from preconstruction through to completion. Currently the project is within an advanced preconstruction phase and will transition into delivery following completion of detailed design development, procurement coordination, and programme integration activities.

Your Skills Profile Should Include:

  • Proven experience as a Senior Planner or Planning Lead on major construction projects
  • Strong Asta Powerproject experience is essential
  • Demonstrable experience on large‑scale residential, PBSA, mixed‑use, or high‑rise developments
  • Strong understanding of construction methodologies, sequencing, and delivery strategy
  • Experience developing integrated construction programmes from preconstruction through delivery
  • Strong technical understanding across structural, façade, architectural, MEP, and commissioning interfaces
  • Experience working within constrained urban construction environments
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
  • Strong analytical and problem‑solving capability
  • Ability to manage multiple interfaces and coordinate across multidisciplinary teams
  • Experience chairing programme workshops and driving collaborative planning sessions
  • Commercial awareness and understanding of programme‑related project risks
  • Self‑motivated, proactive, and delivery focused

The Role:

In this role you will play a key position in the development, management, coordination, and maintenance of the integrated master programme throughout the lifecycle of the project. You will initially focus on preconstruction programme development, design and procurement integration, construction sequencing, logistics planning, and delivery strategy coordination, before transitioning into a site‑based lead planning role during construction delivery. This is a hands‑on role requiring both technical planning capability and strong stakeholder engagement skills across internal teams, consultants, subcontractors, client representatives, and delivery partners.

The role will involve ownership and management of programme development across all major project stages including:

  • Design development and technical coordination
  • Procurement and package integration
  • Enabling works and logistics sequencing
  • Structural and façade delivery strategy
  • Vertical transportation and temporary works integration
  • Construction phasing and workface coordination
  • Testing, commissioning, and handover strategy
  • Progress monitoring, reporting, risk analysis, and mitigation planning

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop, maintain, and manage the fully integrated master programme using Asta Powerproject
  • Lead programme coordination during preconstruction and delivery phases
  • Develop detailed construction sequencing, phasing, and logistics strategies for a constrained Central London site
  • Coordinate programme interfaces between design, procurement, construction, commissioning, and handover activities
  • Support development of delivery methodologies and construction strategies
  • Undertake programme analysis including critical path, risk, opportunity, and mitigation assessments
  • Chair and lead programme workshops and planning coordination meetings
  • Monitor progress against programme objectives and identify corrective actions where required
  • Maintain programme quality, integrity, logic, and reporting standards throughout the project lifecycle
  • Interface with project teams to ensure programme ownership and accountability across all disciplines
  • Capture and analyse progress data, productivity trends, and delivery performance
  • Support reporting to senior leadership teams and client stakeholders
  • Identify programme‑related commercial and operational risks
  • Assist with development and management of short‑term and long‑term delivery strategies
  • Support integration of commissioning, sectional completion, and handover activities into the master programme
