Electrical Technical Engineer to support our MEP Unbundled strategy, aiming to improve quality, safety, and control over project timelines.

You will assist the Electrical Technical Manager in delivery and technical authorisation of Electrical design information, from prequalification to completion, with an emphasis on pre‑construction (generally RIBA Plan of Work Stages 3‑6 / BSRIA BG6 Stages 3‑6).

Projects typically range from £5M‑£130M.

You will build and lead effective relationships with MEP Consultants, Digital Engineering Coordinators, and Specialist CDP Designers to maximise value, opportunity, and mitigate risk.

You will be based in London and support projects in London, the South East and cover healthcare, residential, schools, life sciences, and data centre sectors.

Skills, Knowledge & Experience

  • Experience within a design consultancy / D&B contractor or technical / design management role.
  • HND / NVQ in Electrical or Building Services subject preferred; experience‑qualified candidates considered.
  • Good experience of design and technical responsibility and relevant sector experience.
  • Good understanding of project lifecycle, including RIBA and BSRIA work stages.
  • Strong Electrical Engineering subject‑matter knowledge with contemporary design approaches, technologies and solutions.
  • Excellent communication at project level.
  • Strong management and collaboration skills.
  • Key Activities And Accountabilities
  • Member of the MEP Unbundled Strategy Core team.
  • Support the Electrical Technical Manager in delivering design and technical engineering management for allocated projects.
  • Develop good working relations with the MEP and Digital Engineering Consultants for allocated projects.
  • Provide coaching and mentoring to Junior Technical Engineers.
  • Assist in the preparation of MEP consultant appointments.
  • Contribute to Designing for Safety and CDM.
  • Undertake granular design reviews and manage technical risks and opportunities.
  • Monitor and manage MEP design progress.
  • Technically review major packages, plant and equipment.
  • Validate site installation and system operation against the design.
  • Provide technical troubleshooting support.
  • Promote Bouygues UK policies, key values and act as a role model in demonstrating behaviours.
