The Lower Thames Crossing (LTC) is one of the UK’s most significant infrastructure projects.

LTC is a new road that will connect Kent and Essex through a tunnel beneath the River Thames and will be the greenest road ever built in the UK - creating six times more green space than road.

The reliable new route will almost double road capacity over the river east of London to reduce congestion and give millions of people more choice on where they live, work and spend their valuable time.

The Role

The Quantity Surveyor will support the commercial management of allocated works packages, including cost control, contract administration, reporting and supply chain management, while working collaboratively to support safe and efficient project delivery.

Key Responsibilities

  • Preparation and management of subcontract and material procurement schedules.
  • Drafting subcontracts including Professional Services Agreements
  • Administration of subcontractor/supplier accounts from the preparation of detailed requisitions, monitoring, and authorisation of subcontract payments through to agreement of final accounts.
  • Undertake the contract administration, including change management and maintain associated registers.
  • Preparation of cost reports to the Client with contractually compliant supporting documentation.
  • Assist in maximising the projects cash position and prepare margin improvement plan
  • Assist with cost management, forecasting, commercial reporting and financial control for allocated packages or sections of work.
  • Administer subcontractor and supplier accounts, including requisitions, payment assessments, supporting documentation and final account activities.
  • Support contract administration, including change management, early warnings, compensation events and maintenance of associated commercial registers.
  • Prepare and maintain valuations, applications for payment, cost reports, cash flow information and other commercial records with accurate supporting evidence.
  • Work collaboratively with delivery, engineering, planning, procurement, finance, assurance and wider project teams to support effective project delivery.
  • Build positive working relationships with the client, stakeholders, colleagues and supply chain partners through clear communication and a proactive approach.
  • Maintain accurate commercial records and ensure information is stored, managed and shared in line with confidentiality, data protection and document control requirements.
  • Provide day-to-day support to Assistant Quantity Surveyors, apprentices, placements or commercial assistants where required, contributing to a collaborative team environment.

Essential Skills & Experience

  • Experience in quantity surveying or commercial management within civil engineering, infrastructure, construction or a similarly complex project environment.
  • Ability to apply commercial knowledge in a practical way, with good attention to detail and a willingness to develop further skills.
  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills, with confidence working collaboratively with colleagues, clients, stakeholders and supply chain partners.
  • Good organisational, analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to manage priorities and support commercial decision-making.
  • HND or degree qualification in Quantity Surveying, Commercial Management or a related discipline
