Responsibilities

  • Accountable for developing construction sequences and methodologies related to the offshore construction of RC and steel structures, heavy lifting and transportation, extraction and rock placement.
  • Review the Clients’ design to assess buildability and compatibility with the agreed methods of works.
  • Market engagement, supplier capabilities review and construction method evaluation.
  • Development of detailed design briefs and construction assumptions to inform detailed designs by lead design consultant(s).
  • Overall methods development for key offshore construction activities, transportation and pre-construction activities for installation.
  • Support supply chain and construction delivery teams for the development of delivery strategies for near shore and offshore construction activities, materials and asset handling.
  • Support the definition of functional and performance requirements of the designs to support the preferred methods, and assist Engineering and Design managers to ensure progression of asset designs in line with construction methods.
  • Support the development of cost estimates and programmes relating to forecasting the defined construction activities.
  • Support the development of Early Contractor Involvement contracts with supply chain, including:
  • Construction of offshore temporary shafts with emphasis on secant piling technologies
  • Offshore dredging and excavation
  • Nearshore/offshore heavy transportation and lifting strategies
  • Offshore batching and placement of cementitious materials (e.g., grout, concrete)
  • Solutions for offshore drilling with and without large diameter temporary casings
  • Assist development of sourcing and procurement strategies, and assist procurement team to prepare invitations to tenders for relevant subcontracted scope of works.
  • Identify and record construction risks related to the methods, ensure mitigations are feasible to deliver and defined in terms of methods, cost and time, and communicate residual risks to construction delivery teams.
  • Report regularly on status and resolution of these activities to satisfy delivery programme priorities.
  • Lead a team of engineers and CAD technicians who support in the above tasks.
  • What We’re Looking For

    • A minimum of a 2:2 BEng (Hons) or BSc (Hons) in Mechanical, Civil, or Structural Engineering.
    • Good working knowledge of Construction (Design and Management) Regulations 2015.
    • Extensive experience in planning, designing, or executing offshore construction and operations using Jack-up platforms, workboats or vessels with Dynamic Positioning (DP) systems.
    • Demonstrable experience on major projects in technical roles within the contractor’s organisation (Engineering, Design, Methods), with evidence of team leadership and work coordination in design-for-construction.

    Desirable Attributes

    • Professional accreditation or progress towards it.
    • Experience with DCO and MMO License applications.
    • Marine operation planning experience and/or experience working nearshore/offshore.
    • Temporary Works Coordinator (TWC) certified with temporary works design experience, offshore applications.
    • Site Management Safety Training Scheme (SMSTS) certification.
