We are currently looking for a Data Engineering Lead to join us at the Civil Works Alliance (CWA) as we deliver one of the UK’s most significant infrastructure projects — Sizewell C . This is a rare opportunity to play a leading role in shaping the future of low-carbon energy in the UK.

As our Data Engineering Lead, you’ll be responsible for designing and leading the development of a secure, scalable data platform on Microsoft Azure , helping turn complex construction data into actionable insight. You’ll manage the full data lifecycle — from ingestion and transformation to warehousing and modelling — all while ensuring data quality, integrity, and alignment with business goals.

Key responsibilities will include:

• Leading the design, development, and deployment of ETL pipelines across diverse business systems

• Driving the data platform roadmap and delivery using best-in-class engineering practices

• Managing a high-performing data engineering team and mentoring technical talent

• Collaborating across functions to define data requirements, structure, and strategy

• Ensuring adherence to data governance, MDM standards, and nuclear safety protocols

• Owning incident management processes and technical documentation for live environments

To succeed in this role, you’ll bring a blend of strong technical expertise and people leadership. We’re looking for someone with experience in:

• Microsoft Azure Data services (Data Factory, Databricks, Azure SQL, Synapse)

• SQL, NoSQL, and API-based data pipelines

• Agile methodologies such as SCRUM or Kanban

• Leading engineering teams in complex environments

• Translating business needs into scalable data architecture

It’s a bonus if you’ve worked in construction, infrastructure, or large-scale civil engineering environments and have experience with ERP systems like SAP or Oracle R12.

This role will directly support the delivery of Sizewell C — a 3.2-gigawatt nuclear power station providing reliable, clean electricity for around 6 million UK homes. It’s a once-in-a-generation project that will shape the UK’s energy future for at least the next 60 years.
