An exceptional opportunity has arisen within the CWA (Civil Works Alliance), where you will play a pivotal role in the delivery of Sizewell C, one of the UK’s most significant low‑carbon infrastructure projects. Sizewell C will generate 3.2 gigawatts of clean electricity, powering around 6 million homes and shaping the nation’s energy future for decades to come.
As our subject matter expert in carbon management, you will join the ESG team and report to the Head of ESG Compliance and Reporting. You will be at the forefront of delivering the carbon agenda for this megaproject, ensuring we meet and exceed contractual requirements, PAS 2080 and RICS aligned Whole Life Carbon Assessment standards.
Your key responsibilities will include:
- Ensuring full alignment with PAS 2080, RICS Whole Life Carbon Assessment and relevant industry frameworks
- Collaborating with multidisciplinary project teams to gather, validate and interpret complex data
- Translating technical carbon data into clear, actionable insights for both internal stakeholders and our supply chain
- Embedding low‑carbon thinking into every stage of design, procurement and delivery
- Leading whole life carbon assessments using industry‑standard tools such as One Click LCA and advanced Excel models
- Developing and implementing PAS 2080 constructor‑aligned carbon strategies and reporting
- Identifying and realising opportunities to reduce carbon across the project lifecycle
- Maintaining rigorous documentation and version control to ensure quality and traceability
- Sharing knowledge and building capability within the ESG team
- Staying up to date with the latest tools, benchmarks and methodologies in carbon and lifecycle analysis
- Engaging with the supply chain to support data provision and identify further carbon reduction opportunities
To be successful in this role, you will bring:
- Deep knowledge of carbon frameworks including PAS 2080, RICS Whole Life Carbon Assessment and current legislation
- Proven experience leading carbon strategies for complex projects or organisations
- Proficiency in whole life carbon tools and advanced MS Excel skills
- The ability to work with complex data, producing meaningful insights for diverse teams
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with a collaborative approach
- Determination, excellent planning and organisational skills, and resilience in the face of complexity
- Understanding of the circular economy, material reuse strategies and low‑carbon design in the built environment
- Experience working across multidisciplinary teams
- A degree (or equivalent) in an environmental, carbon or sustainability discipline, engineering or a related field
It would be an advantage to have experience on large infrastructure projects and/or postgraduate qualifications.
