Job Purpose: To manage on-site delivery of diaphragm wall construction works, ensuring safety, quality, programme and productivity targets are achieved within a complex major project environment.
Main Responsibilities:
- Project Planning & Early Engagement: Actively participate at least six months prior to project commencement to assess site conditions, define construction methods, and identify required resources (manpower, equipment, and materials). Work closely with the design team to select construction methodologies that ensure feasibility, safety, and efficiency. Contribute to tendering activities by providing input on construction methods, manpower planning, site execution strategies, and cost considerations.
- Construction Execution & Site Management: Oversee daily site activities, ensuring construction methods, equipment deployment, and resource allocation align with technical specifications and budget constraints. Manage and supervise construction workers, subcontractors, and site supervision teams by setting objectives, monitoring progress, and ensuring compliance with schedules, quality standards, and working hours. Oversee in-house production and integrated subcontracted works, particularly on complex or large-scale projects. Proactively identify and respond to site issues, risks, and project developments.
- Financial & Programme Control: Manage financial plans and implement cost-control strategies to ensure efficient use of resources and adherence to budget. Monitor progress against programme milestones and take corrective action where necessary to maintain schedule.
- Quality, Safety & Compliance: Perform routine site inspections to ensure compliance with quality standards, safety regulations, and environmental requirements. Ensure the implementation of safe working practices and full compliance with company Health & Safety policies at all times. Address non-conformities and site issues promptly and effectively.
- Stakeholder & Team Management: Act as the primary liaison between the site team and the client, ensuring clear communication, alignment of expectations, and timely resolution of issues. Lead, mentor, and support supervision teams to optimise performance and foster professional growth. Collaborate with HR to identify training needs and support the development of targeted training programmes.
Qualifications & Experience:
- NVQ Level 6/7, HNC/HND or equivalent
- SMSTS, CSCS, First Aid
- Proven experience supervising diaphragm wall works on major projects
- Strong leadership and coordination skills in complex site environments
