The Lower Thames Crossing (LTC) is a major UK infrastructure project that will connect Kent and Essex via a tunnel beneath the River Thames. It will be the greenest road ever built, creating six times more green space, increasing capacity and reducing congestion.
Purpose of the Job
The BMJV Communications Manager will shape and strengthen internal and external communications for the project, establish effective communication channels, create engaging content and ensure clear, timely messaging in collaboration with project and client teams. The role leads on external communications with Bouygues Travaux Publics UK, Murphy, and the Lower Thames Crossing Communications function, bringing the project story to life by identifying major milestones, achievements and innovations while building a compelling narrative around BMJV’s delivery of the twin road tunnels and approaches.
Responsibilities
- Build and maintain BMJV profile across the project and on site.
- Enhance BMJV’s external profile through collaboration with LTC communications and joint venture partner communications teams.
- Establish communication channels and create a consistent rhythm for timely and effective information sharing.
- Identify and promote key project milestones, successes and achievements.
- Manage creation and distribution of content across internal and external communication channels.
- Develop strong working relationships with the LTC communications team and the joint venture partners’ communications teams.
- Work closely with delivery and support teams to ensure important project information is communicated effectively.
- Prepare and edit engaging content tailored for a variety of audiences, including office‑based teams, site teams and external stakeholders.
- Manage supply chain communication requests in alignment with the LTC communications team.

- Significant communications experience within a fast‑paced environment, with the ability to manage changing priorities.
- Strong stakeholder engagement and collaboration skills across multiple teams and organisations.
