We’re looking for a Technical Writer to join our Pre-Construction team supporting the Sizewell C (SZC) Project, one of the most complex and nationally significant infrastructure projects in the UK.
As part of the Civil Works Alliance (CWA), you’ll play a vital role in producing compelling and compliant technical submissions that shape the engineering solutions, methods, programme, and Target Outturn Cost (TOC) of the project. You’ll work closely with cross-functional teams—engineering, operations, HSES, and commercial—translating complex technical content into structured, accurate, and high-quality written deliverables.
What You’ll Do
- Lead and manage the Technical Writing team, providing oversight, direction, and mentoring
- Support development of detailed TOC submissions including technical, pricing, and programme components
- Translate technical discussions, meetings, and reviews into clear, structured proposal content
- Collaborate with discipline leads to capture accurate input across HSES, sustainability, engineering, and programme
- Review and refine technical responses to client questions, ensuring clarity, accuracy, and alignment with project objectives
- Coordinate internal reviews and lessons learned workshops post-submission to drive process improvements
- Proactively manage documentation, content libraries, CVs, case studies, and supporting materials for future use
- Contribute to the streamlining and optimisation of the TOC submission process
What We’re Looking For
Essential
- Proven experience writing for major construction, engineering, or infrastructure projects
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with an excellent grasp of technical English
- A solid understanding of civil engineering or complex infrastructure projects
- Ability to manage priorities, coordinate team workload, and meet critical deadlines
- A proactive, collaborative mindset with the ability to engage with engineers, planners, and senior stakeholders
Desirable
- Experience working on major pre-construction programmes or TOC submissions
- Some knowledge of construction safety standards and UK HSE legislation
- Degree in Engineering, Communications, Technical Writing, or a related field
