As part of Bouygues Construction's Public Works division, VSL International participates in the construction of major technical structures and guarantees their structural safety and durability: transport infrastructure (bridges, tunnels), industrial and energy production structures, and commercial buildings.

We are seeking Methods & Temporary Works Engineers / Managers to support the development and delivery of construction methods and temporary works solutions across major UK infrastructure projects. This role sits at the interface between design and construction, focused on ensuring complex engineering concepts are translated into safe, practical, and efficient buildable solutions. You will work closely with site teams, designers, and subcontractors to optimise construction sequencing, methodology, and delivery. This position is suited to experienced engineers and managers who enjoy technical problem‑solving and want to play a key role in delivering complex projects.
Main Responsibilities
- Develop safe, practical, and cost‑effective construction methods and temporary works solutions.
- Refine construction sequences, including precast segment gluing, temporary post‑tensioning, and erection.
- Lead the development of access strategies and methods of work across varying configurations.
- Plan and sequence works, identify plant requirements, and optimise construction efficiency.
- Produce and review method statements, lifting studies, and temporary works designs.
Construction Engineering & Technical Delivery
- Lead constructability reviews and support design teams in refining permanent works.
- Manage construction engineering development and review geometry control at key stages.
- Ensure technical solutions are aligned with site constraints and programme requirements.
- Deliver CAD outputs (AutoCAD 3D essential) and maintain technical documentation.
Coordination & Stakeholder Engagement
- Coordinate with site teams, designers, and subcontractors to ensure seamless execution.
- Act as a technical interface between engineering, design, and construction functions.
- Communicate complex technical solutions clearly to both technical and non‑technical stakeholders.
Education
- Degree in Civil or Structural Engineering (or equivalent) preferred.
Experience
- Experience in construction methods, temporary works, or structural design.
- Background working on complex infrastructure or engineering projects.
- Experience coordinating across design, site, and subcontractor teams.
- Strong problem‑solving capability with a practical, delivery‑focused mindset.
Technical Skills
- Strong knowledge of reinforced concrete and structural steel.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD 3D (essential).
- Familiarity with tools such as Revit, Tekla, Navisworks (desirable).
- Understanding of construction sequencing, temporary works design, and buildability.
- Ability to translate engineering concepts into practical construction solutions.
