At Bouygues we require an experienced Electrical Design Manager to expand our team for a project based in London/Cambridge. Bouygues operates an MEP Unbundled strategy, reducing reliance on external suppliers to improve quality, safety, and project control. You will build and lead effective relationships with our MEP Consultants, BIM Coordinators and CDP Specialists to maximise value/opportunity and mitigate risk. Location London and supporting projects in the South East (including a Hospital project in Jersey – remotely). Sectors include Healthcare, Residential Regeneration, Schools, Data Centres, Health and Life Sciences.
Key Responsibilities
- Member of the MEP Unbundled Strategy Core team.
- Support MEP Technical Director in delivering design and technical engineering management strategy.
- Manage customer, MEP, and Digital Engineering Consultant relationships for allocated projects.
- Line management for Electrical Technical Engineer and Junior Technical Engineers.
- Electrical technical authority for allocated project.
- Prepare and implement MEP consultant appointments.
- Responsible for Designing for Safety and CDM.
- Manage granular design reviews.
- Monitor and manage MEP design progress.
- Technical ownership of all technical risks, opportunities, value engineering and value management.
- Provide technical coaching, mentoring and guidance to MEP Consultants, direct reports, Project Managers and Project Engineers.
- Authorize major packages, plant and equipment.
- Validate site installation and system operation against the design.
- Provide technical troubleshooting support.
- Promote the BYUK policies and Key Values and act as role model in demonstrating behaviours.
Qualifications
- Significant experience within a design consultancy or technical/design management role.
- Degree qualified in Electrical or Building Services subject preferred, but experience can be considered.
- Charted Engineer MCIBSE or MIET (or working towards / similar).
- Proven experience of design and technical responsibility on £50M+ projects or multiple projects.
- Robust understanding of project lifecycle, including RIBA and BSRIA works stages.
- Electrical Engineering subject matter expert with extensive knowledge of contemporary design approaches, technologies and solutions.
- Ability to communicate, inspire and motivate.
- Strong leadership and collaboration skills.
- Effective communication skills and stakeholder management, both internally and externally.
