As part of Bouygues Construction's Public Works division, VSL International participates in the construction of major technical structures and guarantees their structural safety and durability: transport infrastructure (bridges, tunnels), industrial and energy production structures, and commercial buildings. The Role
We are seeking an experienced Finance Auditor to strengthen financial governance and assurance across our delivery scope at Sizewell C. This role will lead internal financial audits, support client and external audit activity, and ensure robust compliance with financial controls, NEC contractual obligations, and regulatory requirements. You will also play a key role in developing and maintaining cost assurance frameworks and dashboards to enhance transparency, reporting accuracy, and financial oversight across the project. Your work will be central to financial transparency, risk mitigation, and continuous improvement on one of the UK’s most complex infrastructure projects.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan, coordinate, and execute internal financial audits across project functions and cost centres.
- Review financial processes, expenditure controls, procurement compliance, and payment governance.
- Assess adherence to internal policies, NEC contractual requirements, and regulatory frameworks.
- Develop and maintain cost assurance frameworks and dashboards to provide clear financial performance and risk visibility.
- Support external and client‑led financial audits, providing evidence and documentation as required.
- Identify control weaknesses, financial risks, and areas for process improvement.
- Manage audit findings, corrective actions, and ensure timely resolution.
- Monitor compliance across the supply chain from a financial governance and commercial assurance perspective.
- Contribute to strengthening financial controls, reporting accuracy, and cost transparency.
- Promote a strong culture of financial accountability and compliance across project teams.
Education & Experience
- Degree in Finance, Accounting, Business, or related discipline.
- Proven experience as a Finance Auditor, Internal Auditor, or Financial Controls Manager.
- Experience within construction, infrastructure, nuclear, or other regulated environments highly desirable.
- Experience working under NEC contracts is advantageous.
- Experience working on large‑scale, multi‑stakeholder projects desirable.
Technical Skills
- Strong understanding of financial controls, audit principles, governance frameworks, and cost assurance processes.
- Experience conducting risk‑based audits and managing corrective action processes.
- Knowledge of UK financial regulations and contractual compliance standards.
- Experience with ERP systems (SAP experience highly desirable).
- Advanced Excel skills and experience building financial dashboards or reporting tools.
