We are currently seeking a highly skilled Planning Manager to join the Civil Works Alliance (CWA), supporting the delivery of the Sizewell C project—a landmark initiative set to supply low‑carbon power to 6 million homes for the next 60 years. As part of the CWA, you will be at the heart of the planning and execution of this once-in-a-generation energy infrastructure scheme.
In this key position, you will lead the planning and development of Target Outturn Cost (TOC) programme submissions for approximately 40 major civil works packages, each valued between £80 million and £800 million. These submissions directly underpin the pricing and delivery approach for the works we have been entrusted to deliver. Your expertise will not only set the direction for project execution but also ensure that every aspect of the programme aligns with the highest industry and regulatory standards.
As Planning Manager, you will:
- Lead, programme, coordinate, and contribute to the preparation of TOC submissions, ensuring that all programmes, schedules, and supporting documents are robust and compliant.
- Oversee the development and integration of the TOC programme into the CWA baseline programme, supporting assurance processes and contract management.
- Develop Basis of Schedule documentation and collaborate with engineering, delivery, and risk teams to ensure risk, opportunity, and programme logic are reflected accurately.
- Present, justify, and communicate programme assumptions, strategies, risks, and outputs in clear terms to all stakeholders, including at high‑profile Settlement meetings.
- Lead, mentor, and develop the planning team, fostering a high‑performing, collaborative environment.
- Coordinate closely with site operational teams, integrating practical production knowledge to create realistic and achievable programmes.
- Manage and balance project resources, applying advanced data analysis for resource levelling and aligning with KPIs to track and drive progress.
- Ensure regulatory compliance and maintain a strong safety culture across all planning activities.
- Incorporate environmental and ecological constraints within planning, supporting CWA’s commitment to sustainable construction.
To succeed in this role, you will need:
- Chartered Engineer status (or similar) with at least 10 years’ experience in civil engineering, preferably within a planning management function.
- Demonstrated expertise in managing complex civil engineering programmes under NEC contracts or equivalent, with advanced skills in Primavera P6.
- Strong understanding of project controls, data management, and schedule integration.
- A record of leadership, effective team coordination, and the ability to drive high‑quality outcomes.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills, able to work collaboratively with multidisciplinary and regulatory teams.
- Experience in fostering a robust safety culture and managing compliance in highly regulated environments.
This is an outstanding opportunity to play a defining role in the future of UK energy and to leave a lasting legacy within the country’s most important infrastructure project.
