Job Overview: Design Coordinator – London, United Kingdom. Permanent. Full‑time. On‑site office with occasional travel.
Job Purpose and Scope: Reporting to the Design Manager, the Design Coordinator will contribute to daily project design management, manage design consultants, and coordinate between design consultants and project staff. The role will liaise with Site Managers and the pre‑construction team for the development of design packages and procurement strategies.
Essential Criteria:
- Architectural or Design qualifications
- Previous main contractor experience
- Good knowledge of design & build within high‑rise residential environments
- Knowledge of the regulatory environment
- Good understanding of the design & build process
- Experience actively involved in meetings (organising, preparing, chairing, drafting minutes)
- Ability to draft correspondence
- Negotiation skills
Accountabilities and Key Tasks:
- Understand client requirements and output specifications.
- Assist in reviewing and, if required, undertaking reviews of design, procurement and construction information to ensure compliance with project documentation.
- Verify design outputs against client specifications, contractor proposals, and statutory requirements.
- Prepare monthly activity reports for the Design Manager.
- Contribute to the Development of the Design Management Plan (DMP).
- Ensure design documents are issued and reviewed by all parties as per the programme, coordinating priorities with designers, consultants and CDPs on a weekly basis.
