Quantity Surveyor (or Senior Quantity Surveyor) – Building Safety team supporting recladding projects across the Southwest & Wales region. The primary location is the Bristol office with regular site visits required. Contract: Permanent, full–time, on‑site.

Job Purpose and Scope

  • Prepare cost estimates based on initial consultant findings and update them into detailed cost budgets as information becomes available.
  • Prepare accurate quantities from drawings.
  • Work with the project lead to prepare contractors’ proposals as part of any settlement agreement.
  • Ensure consultants/subcontractors are procured in accordance with BYUK procedures, creating robust contractual agreements that ring‑fence BYUK overall liability.
  • Financial and contractual management of consultants and subcontractors in accordance with their appointments/subcontracts.
  • Submit BYUK applications for payment according to agreed time scales and with sufficient information for timely recommendation issuance.
  • Provide accurate monthly financial reports in line with BYUK rules of reporting and time scales.
  • Maintain on‑site records to support any recovery actions.
  • Administer supply chain payments correctly and accurately according to their appointments.
  • Collaborate with the Commercial Director to maximise success of project mitigation and recovery strategy.
  • Support the project lead by attending site meetings and contributing to internal and external monthly reports.
  • Review third‑party claims with the technical manager and provide detailed assessments, including Scott schedules.

  • Management of junior surveyors.

About You

  • Proven experience as a Quantity Surveyor with a main contractor or large subcontractor.
  • Ability to prepare timely monthly financial reports that accurately forecast the financial cost and activity using company tools, procedures and rules.
  • Good commercial awareness.
  • Strong attention to detail and production of accurate work.
  • Solid understanding and management of company reporting timetables, tools and procedures.
