BYLOR has broken the UK record for the largest continuous concrete pour of 9,000 m³ of concrete.
Purpose of the role
Support the Quality Manager (PTLS SSW) in overseeing the implementation of quality management arrangements, measuring effectiveness, and supporting improvement projects to optimise quality arrangements.
Key responsibilities and specific accountabilities
- Attend site day‑to‑day completing Hold/Witness point inspections in line with ITP requirements: dimensional testing
- Cleanliness inspections
- Visual testing
- Penetrant testing
- MPI testing
- UT/PAUT testing
Complete inspection reports thoroughly and competently, ensuring all requirements are met.
Industry standards must always be followed to guarantee final product quality.
From time to time, inspectors will enter confined spaces wearing RPE masks and associated PPE, and may be required to work at height using harnesses and associated equipment.
- Key Skills & Competencies
- CSWIP 3.1/PCN L2 Visual – minimum requirement.
- PCN L2 – minimum requirement for NDT inspections PT, MT, UT (Phased Array – desirable).
- Documented hands‑on welding experience with indentured apprenticeship (desirable).
- Previous welding/NDT experience.
- Good knowledge and understanding of ITPs and requirements.
- Ability to follow procedures, work to approved drawings and complete inspection reports in a timely manner.
- Work within a busy team environment on a challenging project with stringent deadlines.
- Good health and safety practices.

All positions with BYLOR are employed directly with either Laing O’Rourke or Bouygues Travaux Publics and include competitive salaries, private medical insurance, company pension schemes, and an annual holiday allowance.
Certain grades may also include a company car allowance.
All positions are based at Hinkley Point C in Somerset, which offers beautiful countryside, attractive coastline, and easy access to nearby cities such as Bristol and Exeter.
