Job Description

Activities & Lifestyle Assistants play a vital role in ensuring that our residents lead fulfilling and meaningful lives in a caring and supportive environment. Your responsibilities revolve around planning, organising and facilitating a diverse range of activities and programmes both inside and outside the home that cater to the physical, emotional and social needs of our residents.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct group and one‑to‑one activities with and for the residents based on appropriate assessment and all relevant information.
  • Train and guide the care team in constructive activities, ensuring awareness of involving residents at all times as part of overall care provision.
  • Maintain a ‘one team approach’ to activities and lifestyle, encouraging all departments to participate for a fun and vibrant environment.
  • Co‑ordinate and collaborate across departments to provide comprehensive care, fostering communication and teamwork.
  • Plan and execute activities, scheduling them without conflicting with residents’ medical appointments or essential services.
  • Continuously improve activities through regular reflection, feedback and adjustment to enhance quality and effectiveness.
  • Establish close contact with outside bodies such as Alzheimer’s Society, WI, Help the Aged, Age Concern, local churches and other charities to provide additional support.
  • Assist with arrangements for outside bodies and individuals to visit the home for entertainment, stimulation and therapeutic input.
  • Get to know each resident’s interests and background to deliver person‑centred activities.
  • Liaise with the care team for residents’ birthdays, anniversaries, cultural and religious celebrations.
  • Maintain and distribute the home’s library of books, ensuring all residents can access materials.
  • Communicate with relatives and friends of residents as required.
