Boutinot Wines

Wine Sales Account Manager

Independents & On-Trade · North West (Cheshire & Greater Manchester) · Hybrid · Permanent

Where:  Out across the North West, with office days at our South Manchester HQ in Cheadle.

The job in one

We’re looking for a brilliant Account Manager to grow our business across the North West, looking after a mixed portfolio of independent wholesalers and retailers, and on-trade and hospitality customers. You’ll keep your existing customers close and growing, win more from them, and bring new ones on board. You’ll live and breathe our wines, and you’ll enjoy the people you sell to.

What makes this one a bit different

Until now, our Account Managers have looked after either independents or the on-trade. We’re changing that. This role brings both together, so you own a whole territory and become the one Boutinot person your customers trust- whether they’re a wholesaler, a wine shop, a neighbourhood bistro or a hotel group. A richer, more varied job, and a real chance to put your stamp on a patch and run it like your own business.

What you’ll be doing

• Selling wine- finding the right wines from our portfolio for your customers, and for their customers.

• Looking after your existing accounts and growing them- more range, more often, more value.

• Getting out there and winning new business across both channels.

• Agreeing joint business plans and negotiating pricing, deals and terms that work for the customer and for us.

• Building sharp sales presentations and proposals, and running tastings, events and training.

• Keeping your accounts, pipeline and forecasts accurate, and working with sales, marketing and product on office days.

The kind of person we’re after

This is no ordinary sales role, so we’re after someone a little out of the ordinary too. You’ll be someone who really likes people- and who people really like back. You’re interested and interesting, the kind of person a customer looks forward to seeing and learns to trust.

But warmth alone won’t cut it. This is a commercial role with a number against it, so you’ll bring real drive: the appetite to own a territory like it’s your own business, the resolve to chase down new business, and the resilience to keep going after a few closed doors.

You’ll be honest- with us and with your customers. You’d turn an order away if it’s wrong for them, because you know the relationship is worth more than the quick win. And here’s the real test: do you put the empty milk carton back in the fridge? We thought so.

You’ll know your wine, or be hungry to. Ideally you’ve sold wine, beer or spirits before and have a feel for the on-trade and independent worlds; at the very least you love wine and will drink up knowledge like a sponge. A bit of wit, a bit of soul and some quiet ambition, and you’ll fit right in.

Why Boutinot? Why now?

We’re an exciting, growing and progressive business in a wonderful trade. We make our own wines from estates across the Old and New World and represent a remarkable cast of world-class producers — an extensive portfolio with something for everyone. More than that, we’re a people business that happens to sell wine: somewhere people enjoy what they do, are looked after, and get the chance to grow. Pay good people well, develop them properly, and have honest conversations along the way - that’s how we work.

What you’ll get

• Competitive base salary + car allowance (no commission or bonus- we pay a strong base instead).

• 25 days’ holiday plus bank holidays, a paid day off for your birthday, and quarterly wellbeing/charity days.

• Option to buy additional annual leave.

• Private healthcare (after a qualifying period) and an Employee Assistance Programme.

• Royal London pension.

• Funded WSET training and ongoing development.

• Discounted staff wine account, and stays at our wineries abroad.

• On-site gym and fully-equipped kitchen at our HQ.

• Cycle-to-work scheme and EV car scheme (after a qualifying period).

• Long-service and special-occasion rewards.
