We are looking for a skilled and motivated Mechanical Fitter to join our Drinking Water Services team. This is an exciting opportunity to play a vital role in maintaining and improving assets across our water treatment works and pumping stations, helping to ensure the delivery of safe, reliable drinking water to our customers. The successful candidate will be responsible for fault finding, repairing, maintaining, and improving a wide range of mechanical equipment while supporting health, safety, compliance, and operational performance across multiple sites. As a Mechanical Fitter, you will: Carry out planned and reactive maintenance on fixed plant equipment across water treatment and pumping sites. Manufacture and fabricate replacement parts and equipment where required. Work safely in confined spaces and use breathing apparatus when necessary. Collaborate with colleagues from other engineering disciplines within workshop and mobile maintenance teams. Assist operational teams in resolving complex mechanical issues. Support the installation and commissioning of new plant and equipment. Provide coaching and guidance to apprentices and trainees. Ensure accurate and timely reporting of completed maintenance activities. Work in accordance with safe systems of work, method statements, health and safety policies, and company procedures. Participate in a standby and call-out rota. Travel throughout the region to support operational requirements as needed. Proven experience working in a mechanical engineering or maintenance role. Ability to repair and maintain complex mechanical equipment. Computer literacy. Full UK driving licence. Experience within the water or wastewater industry. Experience delivering maintenance services to internal or external customers. Experience working with contractors. Fabrication and welding experience including MIG, TIG and Stick welding.
