We are seeking an experienced and knowledgeable Senior Student Immigration Compliance Officer to play a key role in ensuring the University’s ongoing compliance with UK Visas and Immigration (UKVI) student sponsor requirements. You will lead on the day‑to‑day monitoring of student immigration compliance, ensuring accurate monitoring, reporting and record‑keeping of sponsored students. As a subject matter expert on student visa regulations, you will provide high‑quality advice and guidance to students and colleagues across the University. You will work closely with internal teams such as Admissions, International Recruitment, Academic Operations, as well as external bodies including UKVI and sector networks. The role requires a meticulous, confident approach to handling complex and sensitive data, alongside excellent communication and judgement.

  • Knowledge of UK student visa legislation and compliance requirements
  • Excellent organisational skills and the ability to manage competing priorities effectively in a busy and complex regulatory environment
  • Confident communicator with strong written and verbal skills
  • Ability to understand, interpret and clearly explain complex regulations to a wide range of audiences
  • Excellent analytical skills, a high level of accuracy and attention to detail when working with data
  • Strong IT skills with experience of using record or database systems

Sponsorship Eligibility

This position does not meet the eligibility requirements for sponsorship under the Skilled Worker Route within the UK Visa and Immigration service’s Points Based System. Therefore, BU will not be able to sponsor individuals who require permission to work to carry out this position.
