Our ambition is to provide learning and skills for a digital future, prepare graduates for a rapidly changing world, and create increased impact regionally and internationally while driving economic growth.
To help us deliver this transformation, we are now seeking to recruit an exceptional leader to join the University Executive Team as Pro Vice-Chancellor Dean for the newly formed Faculty of Business and Law. Reporting into the Deputy Vice-Chancellor and Provost, this is a key leadership role for the university and is an opportunity to shape and lead a significant part of the university’s academic portfolio. This is a unique moment to join a university on the rise under new leadership.
Bournemouth combines the energy of a thriving coastal town with the ambition of an institution investing heavily in innovation. We have recently secured significant funding for the South West’s only Cyber Security and AI Centre, and we are driving forward plans to strengthen our position as a leader in business education and enterprise. Our strategy, BU2035, sets out a future focused on digital excellence, entrepreneurial growth, and partnerships that connect our students and research with industry.
The Pro Vice-Chancellor Dean for the Faculty of Business and Law will lead a dynamic faculty with ambitious plans for growth and impact. Encompassing both the Business School and the School of Law and Society, this faculty champions research, innovation and enterprise, driving knowledge exchange and real-world impact across business, law and the social sciences.
From executive education and CPD to pioneering collaborations with industry leaders, legal firms, the Crown Prosecution Service, NGOs and public sector partners, this role offers the opportunity to shape a distinctive academic community that fosters entrepreneurship and thought leadership. Building on innovative partnerships such as those with AFC Bournemouth and University Hospitals Dorset, the successful candidate will play a pivotal role in developing strategic alliances that enhance student experience and societal benefit.
Candidates will demonstrate sustained academic leadership at a strategic level and a proven track record of delivering ambitious outcomes for students, the university and its wider network of partners. We are looking for a dynamic and collaborative leader, with vision, energy, and the ability to inspire. Candidates will bring senior academic leadership experience, strategic insight, ambition and a passion for innovation, as well as financial acumen and strong experience of operational and resource management.
