Heathlands Primary Academy and Pre‑School is seeking an experienced Senior Governance Professional to provide strategic leadership and oversight of governance across the Coastal Learning Partnership.
Start Date: September 2026 or January 2027
Location: Central office with some flexibility to work at home
Salary: Grade 8, SCP 27 - 30 (£19.18 - £21.14 per hour)
Hours: Part‑Time, 15 hours per week (52 weeks per year)

Role Summary: You will ensure governance at all levels is effective, compliant and continuously improving. The role is offered on an annualised hours basis, averaging 15 hours per week during term time, with attendance at some evening meetings (typically once per half term).
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide high-quality professional governance advice to the Trust Board and its committees
- Support and improve governance structures, board effectiveness and recruitment and induction of governors
- Ensure strong compliance, including statutory reporting
- Oversee information flow and effective use of governance systems and technology
- Attend Trust Board and Member meetings and ensure effective minutes and follow-up of actions
- Strengthen local governance and ensure consistent, effective governance arrangements across the Trust
Qualifications and Experience: You will be an experienced governance or clerking professional with strong knowledge of academy trust and charity governance. You will bring excellent organisational and communication skills, sound judgement, and the confidence to advise senior leaders and trustees.
