BCP Council’s Highway Delivery Team are looking for Skilled Highway Operatives to join us in the delivery of works including Routine Maintenance, Construction Schemes, Traffic Management, Winter Service provision and more.
The pay rate for this role will be £28,598 Band 5 (pro rata for part‑time colleagues) plus £100 per month Recruitment & Retention payment. Plus the ability to increase income by joining our 'Out of hours' rota.
Key responsibilities:- Routine maintenance of highways, including patching and remedial repairs
- Construction and resurfacing of highways – small and major improvement schemes
- Deployment of traffic management on rural and urban roads, including high‑speed networks
- Operating from either Hatch Pond Road Depot in Poole or Southcote Road Depot in Bournemouth
- Experience in highways maintenance, construction, and traffic management as described above
- Class C1 or Class C driver’s licence
- Ability to remain calm and polite when engaging with members of the public
- Willingness to complete a full pre‑employment medical questionnaire and DBS check
