Working pattern: 8:00am to 4:00pm Monday to Thursday, 8:00am to 3:00pm Friday
Starting salary: Up to £24,050 per annum (Full Time Equivalent £28,308) depending on experience
Contract type: Permanent. Term time plus one week: 38 school weeks plus training days and a week of flexible working.
The Gateway Support Worker also has a paid lunch duty covering the lunch period in the Resource base – 35 minutes per day, term time only, with an annual allowance of £1,635.
Responsibilities:- Support the day‑to‑day coordination and organisation of students within the provision, using strong communication and organisational skills.
- Deliver lessons under the direction of the SEN Resource Manager, demonstrating effective classroom management and a consistent, nurturing approach.
- Develop, organise, and deliver targeted programmes of support in collaboration with the SEN Resource Manager and SENDCo, including interventions focused on social skills and emotional literacy.
- Bring experience of working with students with special educational needs, particularly those with ASD and Social, Emotional and Mental Health needs.
- Build strong, trusting relationships with parents and carers to support close, collaborative working.
- Work effectively with a range of professionals, including support staff, outreach services, agencies, and partner schools, to promote student safety, wellbeing, and progress.
- Use Microsoft IT applications confidently and maintain accurate, up‑to‑date records to evidence student support, engagement, and progress.
- Demonstrate a calm, patient, and approachable manner when working with students and colleagues.
- Be creative, consistent, and aspirational in your practice, maintaining high standards and supporting students to achieve positive outcomes for wellbeing, personal development, and academic success.
- Work closely with careers staff to ensure Year 11 students have secure and appropriate post‑16 pathways.
- Promote inclusivity and integration between the Resource Base and the main academy, working collaboratively as part of the wider school team and contributing to whole‑school initiatives.
- Contribute directly to improving the progress, wellbeing, and academic outcomes of our students.
- Support the development and consistent implementation of the school’s safeguarding, behaviour, and anti‑bullying policies to promote a safe and supportive learning environment.
- Help students to develop strategies to self‑regulate their behaviour and build positive relationships.
- Work as part of a child‑centred, supportive team that is committed to transforming young people’s lives through care, education, and advocacy.
- Previous experience working in a school setting.
- Experience with students with ASD and Social, Emotional and Mental Health needs is essential.
- Strong communication, organisational and classroom management skills.
- Commitment to student wellbeing and inclusive practice.
- Experience collaborating with external agencies and support services.
