About the Role
Provide one-to-one support to an individual with severe learning disability, autism, arthritis, and coeliac disease who lives at home with family and a dog. The role involves ensuring personal safety and daily care activities, assisting with bathroom use, mealtime prompts, and monitoring pain killer intake. The assistant will also help the individual to get out and about, including trips to Helix Day Centre, Moorlands Road, Verwood.
Responsibilities
- Support personal safety throughout the day and assist with risk assessment.
- Assist with bathroom use, personal hygiene and toileting.
- Prompt and support at mealtimes, ensuring strict gluten-free diet compliance.
- Monitor and record the intake of prescribed pain killers.
- Provide companionship and facilitate out & about trips to Helix Day Centre.
- Travel to and from Helix Day Centre by own vehicle (mileage paid at 45p per mile).
Requirements
- Self-employed personal care assistant with ability to set rates of pay.
- Valid driving licence and own vehicle, with up-to-date vehicle documentation.
- Experience or training in working with individuals with learning disabilities, autism, or similar conditions.
- Good communication skills and ability to work independently.
Schedule & Working Hours
24 hours per week (term time only), 8 hours each day on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday.
Location
BH23 area (EM/FH). Commute to Helix Day Centre, Moorlands Road, Verwood.
