Starting salary for this role is £30,518 (pro rata for part-time colleagues). The role sits within a well-defined pay band with clear progression. New starters begin at the entry point of the band. Internal colleagues are normally appointed at the bottom of the band.
Role Purpose
Support Workers (Learning Disabilities) – casual positions working as and when required. BCP Supported Living Service supports adults with learning disabilities to live in their own home to achieve optimum independence. The service is registered with the Care Quality Commission and operates 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.
Responsibilities
- Support adults with learning disabilities to live independently and achieve optimum independence.
- Record, assess, monitor and review outcomes to meet individuals’ personal outcomes and contribute to overall service delivery.
- Uphold person-centred care and support, allowing individuals to make choices and have control over their daily life.
- Adapt to the changing needs of people and the service on a daily basis as part of a busy team.
- Work a variety of shift patterns, including weekends, evenings and public holidays, and respond to calls as required.
- Ensure accurate documentation and compliance with regulatory requirements such as the Care Quality Commission guidelines.
Qualifications and Experience
- Demonstrated caring, empathy, dignity, respect, and the ability to treat people with kindness.
- Capability to use own initiative and work effectively within a busy team.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
- Existing right to work in the UK (not eligible for visa sponsorship).
- Completed Disclosure and Barring Service check required.
Training and Development
Full training will be offered. BCP Council provides ongoing support and reasonable adjustments.
