Starting salary for this role is £34,434 (pro rata for part-time colleagues). The Adult Social Care Long-Term Conditions Strategic Commissioning Team is part of the Wellbeing Directorate.

Role Purpose

We’re looking for an ambitious, motivated and organised Commissioning Officer to join our Adult Social Care Commissioning Team. In this role you will contribute to the development and delivery of key commissioning priorities, helping to build a sustainable, high‑quality care market.

Key Responsibilities

  • Work closely with providers to shape and maintain a diverse, high‑quality, and sustainable care market.
  • Build strong relationships with partners, understand market pressures, and support innovation to ensure flexible and reliable provision.
  • Lead on the delivery of provider forums, workshops and engagement events to improve outcomes for adults.
  • Interpret data, insights, and market trends to inform and strengthen commissioning decisions.
  • Represent the Council as the primary point of contact for providers and partners.
  • Support residential care markets to remain sustainable, high quality, and responsive to changing demand.

Required Qualifications & Skills

  • Good understanding of the Adult Social Care sector.
  • Confident presenting information to large groups in a clear and engaging way.
  • Strong organisational skills, with the ability to manage priorities effectively.
  • Self-motivated and able to work on your own initiative.
  • High attention to detail and accuracy in your work.
  • Ability to interpret, analyse and bring together data and information to support decision‑making.
