BCP Children’s Services is recruiting Independent Reviewing Officers (IROs) / Child Protection Chairs to help make a difference in the lives of children and young people. All new starters will begin at the bottom of the pay band, reflecting a commitment to equity across the organisation. The role offers a fixed starting salary but great scope for growth and meaningful contribution within a forward‑thinking team.
Responsibilities
- Provide scrutiny, support and challenge to social work teams and ensure care and protection plans progress within timeframes that meet each child's needs.
- Engage productively with families, carers and other professionals.
- Robustly manage and chair case conferences and child‑in‑care meetings.
- Handle a mixed workload of child protection and child‑in‑care work.
- Participate as part of a dedicated team that delivers good outcomes and an inclusive service.
- Engage with partner agencies and participate in joint meetings as required.
Qualifications
- Social work qualified and registered with Social Work England.
- Extensive experience as an Independent Reviewing Officer or Child Protection Chair, or relevant experience in the child protection and child‑in‑care arena.
- Confirmed confidence in chairing meetings and working with partner agencies.
- Excellent communication skills and ability to engage productively at all levels.
- Successful enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check.
- Right to work in the UK; no visa sponsorship available.
