The Role:

As our T Level Assessor in Early Years, you will be responsible for preparing the T Level in Education and Early Years students for work placement. You will visit, report and assess on the progress and performance of students at placement against criteria set out by the Awarding Body.

In addition, you will liaise with the external Awarding Body as part of the assessment for the T Level, as well as undertaking a range of duties that support the successful running of Early Years work placements.

Responsibilities as our T Level Assessor in Early Years will include:

  • Arranging, in consultation with the Learning Manager for Early Years and Care and tutors, work placements for all students on the T Level in Education and Early Years study programme. The majority of students are 16-19 years old and are aiming to work in the Early Years sector or progress to University upon completion of their course.
  • Completing placement visit observations or reports (as appropriate) as required by the awarding bodies and Learning Manager and grading/moderating structured observations as required by the Awarding Body.
  • Liaising with placement providers and tutors on the progress and assessment/performance of students.
  • Participating in student tutorials/taught sessions relating to work placements to help prepare students and share knowledge.
  • Supporting and enabling students to be confident and ready for their observations including facilitating classes and workshops and working alongside the teacher/tutors.
  • Acting as DBS signatory for DBS applications.
  • Liaising with placement providers and appropriate external bodies/organisations in order to foster effective links and develop new placements.
  • Visiting students at their work placements and monitoring their attendance and progress.
  • Planning and accurately recording placement visits in the most cost-effective manner.
  • Effectively liaising with the Awarding Body, employer and student in relation to moderation windows to ensure these run successfully and meet all needs.

As our T Level Assessor in Early Years, you\’ll ideally have:

  • A relevant professional qualification at Level 3 or above – Diploma in Childcare and Education, Level 3 NVQ in Early Years, Care and Education, Children and Young People\’s Workforce, NNEB.
  • Level 2 (or equivalent) English and Maths.
  • Knowledge and practice of Child Care/Early Years programmes and the qualification framework.
  • Experience of working with students and assessing vocational practice.
  • Skills and experience in assessing the progress of students.
  • Competent in Microsoft Office applications.
  • Commitment to helping students in their personal development.
  • An understanding of and commitment to equal opportunities in relation to education and training.
