Make a real difference to students' lives. We're looking for a compassionate and proactive Student Safeguarding Officer to join our dedicated Student Experience team at Bournemouth & Poole College. If you're passionate about supporting young people and ensuring their safety and wellbeing, this is an opportunity to play a vital role in helping students feel safe, supported and able to thrive.
About the role: This is a fast-paced and rewarding role at the heart of our safeguarding provision. You'll respond to safeguarding concerns, assess risk, and ensure students receive the right support at the right time. Working closely with internal teams and external agencies, you'll help create a safe and inclusive environment where every student feels heard and supported.
Key responsibilities:
- Respond promptly to safeguarding concerns and referrals
- Assess and manage risk, including safeguarding and wellbeing needs
- Make referrals to appropriate internal and external services
- Maintain accurate, confidential safeguarding records
- Work collaboratively with external agencies (e.g. social care, health services)
- Deliver training and workshops to staff and students
- Support the development of safeguarding processes and initiatives
About you: You'll be calm under pressure, highly organised, and confident working with vulnerable individuals. You'll also bring:
- Experience working with young people in education, youth work or social care
- Experience managing safeguarding concerns and referrals
- Strong knowledge of safeguarding practices and legislation (e.g. KCSIE)
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- A relevant qualification (e.g. Social Work, Education or Youth Work)
- Level 3 Safeguarding and/or Mental Health First Aid (or willingness to obtain)
