Here at Bournemouth & Poole College, we have a position available for a Lecturer in Criminology on a part time, permanent contract. In return, you will receive a competitive annual salary of £30,000 to £40,374 pro rata.

As a Lecturer in Criminology, you will:

  • Deliver engaging, inclusive and high-quality teaching to Level 3 learners studying Criminology, Psychology and Law.
  • Inspire students by bringing criminological theory and real-world practice to life.
  • Act as a Personal Tutor, supporting learners' academic progress and wellbeing.
  • Create and adapt innovative learning materials aligned to awarding-body requirements.
  • Provide constructive feedback that motivates students and helps them achieve their goals.
  • Contribute to curriculum development, course planning and quality improvement.
  • Support learners to engage in meaningful work placements and enrichment activities.
  • Participate in key College events such as open evenings, parent evenings and school liaison activities.

About You

We are looking for someone who is:

  • Qualified to degree level (or higher) in Criminology or a related subject.
  • Experienced in teaching or working within the criminal justice system.
  • Skilled at communicating with diverse groups of learners.
  • Creative, adaptable and passionate about developing young people.
  • Digitally confident, with experience using VLEs and Microsoft Office.
  • Knowledgeable about current issues in criminology and education.
  • Committed to safeguarding, inclusivity and delivering high-quality learning.
  • A teaching qualification (Level 5 or higher) is desirable, but we welcome applicants willing to work towards it.
