Shape the next generation of skilled tradespeople. We're looking for a passionate and practical Technician / Instructor β Multi Skills to join our Construction team at Bournemouth & Poole College. If you've got hands-on experience in carpentry, multi-skills, or wet trades, and enjoy sharing your knowledge in a workshop environment, this could be the perfect opportunity to develop a role in education.
About the role
You'll play a key role in supporting both students and teaching staff by ensuring workshops run smoothly, safely, and effectively. Your responsibilities will include:
- Preparing tools, materials, and equipment for practical sessions
- Maintaining and repairing workshop equipment to a high standard
- Managing stock, ordering materials, and ensuring cost efficiency
- Supporting practical demonstrations and student learning
- Ensuring workshops meet all health & safety standards (including COSHH)
- Keeping workshop environments organised, safe, and industry-relevant
About you
We're looking for someone who is:
- Level 2 (or equivalent) English & Maths
- Experienced in a workshop or construction environment
- Knowledgeable about tools, materials, and industry practices
- Highly organised with strong problem-solving skills
- Passionate about safe working practices
- Supportive, patient, and keen to help learners succeed
- Willing to gain a teaching qualification
